The History of Mikkeller

Mikkeller was founded in 2006 by Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and Kristian Keller. Bjergsø, a former homebrewer, had a passion for creating unique and flavorful beers. Keller, a business-minded entrepreneur, saw the potential for a craft brewery in Denmark. Together, they founded Mikkeller, which quickly became one of the most popular breweries in the country.

In 2007, Mikkeller opened its first brewpub in Copenhagen. The brewpub was a huge success, and it helped to introduce Mikkeller's beers to a wider audience. In 2008, Mikkeller opened its first international brewpub in San Francisco. The San Francisco brewpub was also a success, and it helped to establish Mikkeller as a global brand.

Today, Mikkeller has over 50 brewpubs and taprooms around the world. The brewery also produces a wide range of beers, from traditional styles to experimental creations. Mikkeller's beers are known for their quality and innovation, and they have won numerous awards.

Mikkeller's Brewing Philosophy and Techniques

Mikkeller's brewing philosophy is based on the belief that beer should be flavorful, creative, and experimental. The brewery uses a wide range of ingredients and techniques to create its beers, and it is not afraid to experiment with new ideas.

Mikkeller's brewing techniques are constantly evolving, but some of the brewery's most common techniques include:

  • Using a wide range of malt and hops
  • Fermenting with different yeast strains
  • Aging beers in barrels
  • Blending different beers together

Mikkeller's beers are known for their complexity and flavor. The brewery's beers often have a high alcohol content, and they can be quite bitter. However, Mikkeller also produces a range of lighter, more sessionable beers.

An Exclusive Interview with Pernille Pang

In this book, we also provide an exclusive interview with Pernille Pang, the co-founder of Mikkeller. Pang is a key figure in the craft beer movement, and she has played a major role in Mikkeller's success.

In the interview, Pang discusses her passion for beer, her role in Mikkeller, and her vision for the future of the craft beer industry.

Mikkeller: Of Beer and Pernille Pang is the definitive guide to the Danish craft beer brewery, Mikkeller. This book delves into the history, philosophy, and brewing techniques of this world-renowned brewery, as well as providing an exclusive interview with co-founder Pernille Pang.
