In the annals of Indian cricket, Srinivasan is a figure shrouded in controversy and intrigue. As the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),he presided over a period of unprecedented growth and success for the sport in the country. But his reign was also marked by allegations of corruption and match-fixing, and he was ultimately forced to resign from his post in the wake of a Supreme Court investigation.

In his new book, The Sardar of Spin, Peter Roebuck provides a masterful account of Srinivasan's life and career. Drawing on exclusive interviews with Srinivasan himself, as well as with his family, friends, and colleagues, Roebuck paints a vivid portrait of a complex and enigmatic man.

The book begins with Srinivasan's humble beginnings in a small town in Tamil Nadu. Roebuck traces his rise from a young lawyer to a successful businessman and, eventually, to the head of the BCCI. Along the way, he explores Srinivasan's close relationships with some of the biggest names in Indian cricket, including Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni.

But Roebuck also delves into the darker side of Srinivasan's legacy. He examines the allegations of corruption and match-fixing that plagued the BCCI during Srinivasan's tenure, and he reveals the extent to which Srinivasan was involved in these scandals.

The Sardar of Spin is a fascinating and revealing look at one of the most controversial figures in Indian cricket. Roebuck's incisive writing and meticulous research make this book essential reading for anyone interested in the history of the sport.
