Of Common Prayer is a novel by Elizabeth Strout that won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2009. The novel tells the story of a group of people who are connected to each other in various ways and who are all struggling with different aspects of their lives. The novel is set in Maine and explores themes of faith, loss, and love.

The novel begins with the death of Harold Miner, a prominent member of the community. Harold's death sends shockwaves through the community and forces everyone to confront their own mortality. The novel then follows the lives of several different characters who are all connected to Harold in some way.

There is Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher who is struggling to come to terms with her husband's death. There is Annick Pfeiffer, a young woman who is struggling with her faith. There is Kevin Nutter, a lawyer who is struggling with his marriage. And there is David Small, a priest who is struggling with his own doubts about God.

As the novel progresses, these characters' lives intersect and their stories unfold. We learn about their hopes and dreams, their fears and insecurities. We see them grapple with loss, love, and faith. And we see them come to terms with their own mortality.

Of Common Prayer is a beautifully written and moving novel that explores the human condition with compassion and insight. The novel is full of memorable characters and thought-provoking themes. It is a novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
